Masters 2011: Rory McIlroy Off to Great Start; Martin Kaymer, Not so Much

Bookmark and Share
Rory McIlroy, the fearless, bushy-haired lad whose girlfriend once impressed TNT announcers, shot a blistering 7-under 65 on the first 18 this morning at Augusta, and is your Masters leader. McIlroy is the youngest first-day Masters leader in Augusta history. (He was one of my picks this morning, which I might as well tout.) The world’s No. 1, Martin Kaymer, who has missed the cut at the Masters the last three years, was horrible, finishing +6. Tiger shot a one-under 71 because he started the back nine so poorly (bogey, bogey). YE Yang, the 2009 PGA Champ, is currently making a charge (birdie, par, eagle, par) and is only two back of McIlroy with a couple holes to go
